Bowie State University

Bowie State University is a public historically black university located in Bowie, Maryland. Founded in 1865, it is the oldest historically black university in Maryland. The university has been recognized by the U.S. News & World Report as one of the top Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the country, as well as having a large number of first-generation, low-income and adult learners. The university offers over 50 undergraduate degrees, 15 master’s degrees, and two doctoral degree programs, with growing emphasis on research and creative works. Bowie State also provides experienced-based learning progams and numerous extracurricular activities. The university’s robust campus community prides itself on social justice and diversity with a strong emphasis on leadership and service.
