California State University Maritime Academy

The California State University Maritime Academy, known as Cal Maritime, is a public university located in Vallejo, California. It was established as the first degree-granting maritime academy on the West Coast in 1929 and offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in areas such as Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering, Global and Maritime Studies, and Business Administration. As one of seven training schools that comprise the California State University system, Cal Maritime is a leader in maritime education, and its graduates serve in working positions in the maritime industry, engineering and shipyard companies, and government agencies. The university is unique in its requirement that all students complete two summers of sea training aboard a real working vessel, allowing them to gain maritime experience firsthand and develop leadership skills.
