Oakwood University is a historically Black Seventh-day Adventist institution of higher education in Huntsville, Alabama. It was founded in 1896 as ‘Oakwood Industrial School’ for the education of freed slaves and subsequently evolved into a full-fledged University in 1996. The University is a Christian-based institution providing outstanding education in a faith-based environment with a commitment to academic excellence, spiritual growth, and service to humanity. Oakwood University offers a range of degree programs – ranging from certificates to masters, as well as doctorate programs, from various disciplines such as Religion, Computer Science, Business, Education, and more. The University emphasizes a commitment to community service and encourages its students to participate in volunteer programs and clubs.
